MS in Data Analytics & Business Computing (MSDABC) students and two faculty, Professor Rohit Deo and Professor Bruno Abrahao, visited Shanghai-Amazon Joint Innovation Center and Shanghai Big Data Alliance Center on November 1, 2019. The company visit provided students with the opportunity to observe how the concept of innovation has been applied in the context of business analytics and data operation.
The first visit was to Shanghai-Amazon Joint Innovation Center (JIC), an international technological innovation platform jointly established by Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Information, Jing'an District Government, Shibei High-tech Park, and AWS. Wenhui Zhang, Business Development Manager, and Yinfeng Li, Solution Architect, welcomed the students and provided a detailed introduction on how Amazon JIC leverages its leading cloud computing and big data technology to build a smart system in China.
The second visit was to Shanghai Big Data Alliance Center. The Center centralizes the data collected, as well as data storage, management and dissemination. It serves as a central network pool that is critical to the continuity of daily operations. Students and faculty learned the infrastructure operations of the data, which includes installing, maintaining, monitoring, patching and updating the resources.
