At the beginning of the fall semester, the NYU Shanghai Career Development Center (CDC) organized a variety of activities for the students from MS in Quantitative Finance (MSQF) and MS in Data Analytics and Business Computing (MSDABC) programs , in order to help them explore more career development possibilities. These activities aimed at providing students with comprehensive career development support, which allow them to access industry knowledge, in order to further broaden their horizons, as well as establish a good understanding before getting into the job market.
On September 3rd, CDC held an orientation for new students to introduce the career development services and the job-searching platform - Handshake. NYU Shanghai librarian, Edward Lim, showed students the available resources at the library regarding career development. He encouraged everyone to fully make use of the resources to expand both their academic and career paths during their graduate journey.
On September 10 and 16, CDC organized visits to ByteDance and Orient Securities Asset Management Co., Ltd. for the MSDABC and MSQF students. These activities helped students to deeply understand industry dynamics, as they experienced different job responsibilities and corporate culture through the onsite visit. .
The students from the MSDABC attended a guided tour at ByteDance, one of the leading Internet companies in China. The staff introduced the history and current projects of the company, as well as the unique corporate culture and the business model. . While at the Oriental Securities Asset Management Co., Ltd., MSQF students learnt the business decision-making strategy of the company, and participated in a recruitment information session specifically designed for them.
