  1. What’s your favorite summer course?

My favorite course so far is Data-Driven Decision Making taught by Professor Vishal Singh whose research interests lie in the domain of Data Driven Business Strategies, with a focus on retail competition, competitive pricing, database marketing, customer management, and empirical industrial organization. I most enjoyed Professor Singh’s lecturing style, which is always very chill and casual. This class is also very practical; the analytics tools taught in the class are much more practical than softwares taught in my undergraduate courses. We don’t need to memorize statistical concepts, but instead focus on understanding fundamental operation logics. We learned how to apply JMP and Tableau, which is crucial for conducting customer analytics for those pursuing a career in marketing.

  1. What was your most memorable program experience to date?

As one of the cohort leaders for the MSMRS program, I really enjoy organizing social events for my peers. We did a lot of fun activities together such as an Escape Room, Karaoke, hot pot dinner, board games.

In addition, the Career Development Center (CDC) session really helped me improve my resume writing. I also learned from the CDC about recruitment timelines for different companies I am interested in so I can get fully prepared for the Fall recruitment season.

  1. What was it like to study and live in NYC in the summer?

I live in Palladium, one of the NYU dorms that is very close to the Stern building. A highlight of my NYC experience was seeing Sleeping Beauty at the New York City Ballet. After watching the show, I heard someone play the famous Tchaikovsky piece from the show on his saxophone in the subway station on my way back.
