MS students kicked off the Spring 2023 semester at NYU Shanghai’s new Qiantan campus located in the New Bund area in Pudong. With access to many new facilities on campus, including a 5,000-square-meter library, two indoor gyms, a 600-seat auditorium, a black box theater, and a 250-seat performing arts recital hall, students continued to embrace learning opportunities both in and outside of the classroom. Students deepened their knowledge in the advanced courses and solved real business cases in their capstone projects; participated in job fairs and recruitment sessions; gained business insights from industry leaders; and engaged with program alumni and their fellow classmates to navigate their post-graduation plans.
Coursework
In Spring 2023, MS students completed nine credits of advanced courses taught by leading faculty from both NYU Shanghai and NYU Stern. Following more than six months of continuous work, they also wrapped up their their team-based capstone projects, culminating in final presentations to their corporate clients who shared helpful feedback that they will undoubtedly carry through to their professional careers post-Master’s.
Guest Speakers and Company Visits
Faculty invited guest speakers into the classroom to offer genuine insights into local business culture and industry specifics. Speakers included experts working at organizations such as Chinese Financial Future Exchange, HARBDATA, Walmart China, Johnson & Johnson China, MPS Media, and Deheng Law Firm, and in roles ranging from CEO, to Founder, to Senior Data Analyst, to Head of E-Commerce, to Data Security Expert, and more.
Students also had the opportunity to visit companies including Hanshow, Hormel Food, Meituan, and Microsoft AI & IoT Insider Lab to explore industry trends and discuss topics such as digital retailing, supply chain, big data technology, and artificial intelligence.

Career Development
The NYU Shanghai Center of Career Development (CCD) continued to support MS students in the Spring semester through one-on-one career appointments, employer recruitment sessions, and professional networking activities. Events included the Spring 2023 Career Fair and the NYU Shanghai International Talents Career Fair where over 80 companies from more than 20 industries introduced 200+ job opportunities.
In March and April, CO23 graduate student career ambassadors presented their year long research projects focused on specific industries such as consumer goods, technology and internet, marketing, finance and consulting, and entrepreneurship; this research and culminating presentation provided an opportunity for students to gain deeper insights into a specific industry, while also developing professional skills in leadership, collaboration and communication.
Additionally, CCD organized two alumni panel talks, Paths to Passion - Defining Your Career Options and Driving the Pioneer Spirit - Life Beyond NYU Shanghai. These panels served to expand the alumni network for current students and provide them with firsthand industry insights and long term career advice.
Alumni Engagement
Alumni from MSDABC & MSQF Classes of 2020, 2021 and 2022 celebrated NYU Shanghai’s 10th Anniversary together at a homecoming gala at the Qiantan campus on March 4. Alumni reconnected with former classmates and professors, met the new students, and also got to explore the new campus through a campus tour. This event was the first in-person reunion since 2020 due to the pandemic.
On April 15, alumni also joined the Admitted Students Welcome Event, hosted by NYU Shanghai Graduate Admissions, to share their journeys before and after graduation with new students entering the programs.
Current students and alumni also had the chance to hear from notable Stern alumni who have spent their careers post-Stern working in Asia; click here to read more.
Social Events
To help students engage on a personal level outside the classroom and explore the new campus area and surrounding neighborhood, cohort leaders continued to organize a series of social events, including movie nights, a hiking trip, dessert treats, and a barbecue dinner.

We congratulate them on their accomplishments this year and wish them all the best in their future endeavors!
