What was your favorite course this summer?
My favorite course this summer was Business Communication. I found it incredibly valuable because it taught me how to convey ideas effectively in a professional setting. The course covered key topics such as crafting clear and concise messages, active listening, and persuasive communication techniques. I particularly enjoyed learning how to tailor communication styles based on the audience, whether it's for internal teams or external stakeholders. These skills are essential, especially in the supply chain management field, where clear communication can directly impact operational efficiency. Overall, it was a practical and engaging course that I believe will be highly useful in my career.
What was a memorable experience this summer outside of class?
A memorable experience this summer outside of class was watching fireworks on July 4th, Independence Day, with my best friend. We found a great spot to sit and enjoy the show, and the vibrant display of colors lighting up the night sky was truly spectacular. Sharing the experience with my best friend made it even more special, as we both reflected on the significance of the day and celebrated the moment together. The atmosphere was festive, and it was a perfect way to appreciate the holiday. It was an unforgettable evening, full of excitement, reflection, and great company.
What is a typical day like while studying at Stern living in NYC this summer?
A typical day for me this summer while studying at Stern often involved spending time at the NYU library with my best friend. We’d start our day by heading to the Starbucks right next to the library, grabbing our coffee, and chatting before diving into our work. Once inside the library, we’d find a quiet self-study room to settle in and focus on our studies. I spent hours reviewing course materials, working on assignments, and preparing for upcoming exams or projects. Taking short breaks to grab another coffee or just relax outside the library helped keep the day balanced. It was a productive routine, made even better by having my best friend there to study alongside me.
What is your advice for students studying at NYU Stern in NYC?
For students studying at NYU Stern, my advice is to maximize the unique opportunities available in New York City. While internships may not be an option, you can still take advantage of Stern’s strong academic resources, such as engaging with faculty, participating in campus events organized by the Operations team, and joining industry-related events organized by the Career Center. Networking is key—attend events, seminars, and company visits to connect with professionals and learn from industry experts. Collaborating with your peers is equally valuable, as the diverse student body provides a range of perspectives that can deepen your understanding of global business challenges. Make the most of experiential learning opportunities through group projects, class simulations, and research, which will help you build practical skills. Lastly, enjoy the cultural and professional landscape of NYC—it offers invaluable experiences that will shape your time at Stern and help you grow both personally and professionally.
What is one thing you’re looking forward to doing in Shanghai during the fall semester?
One thing I'm really looking forward to during the fall semester in Shanghai is exploring the city's diverse food, entertainment options, and vibrant business environment. I'm especially excited about visiting Disneyland—it's been eight years since I last went, and I'm curious to see how it has changed. On the business side, I’m eager to observe how companies operate in this global hub and gain insights into Shanghai's unique blend of traditional and modern business practices (for example, I really wanna visit the Tesla Gigafactory in Shanghai). I believe it’s going to be a fascinating experience!
