Admissions Process Policies
Additional Submissions by Waitlisted Applicants
The Admissions Committee reserves the right to make final decisions on waitlisted applications prior to receiving additional information. Materials received after a final decision will not affect that decision.
The application fee is $120 for all programs. You will be prompted to pay the application fee after you submit your application. Your application will not be processed until we receive the application fee.
Application Fee Waivers
U.S. military members or U.S. veterans who have served active duty and Teach for All partner program alumni are eligible for application fee waivers. Prior to submitting your application, email your request for an application fee waiver to email@example.com and include documentation of service.
If you are experiencing severe economic hardship and would like to request an application fee waiver, please email firstname.lastname@example.org. Requests should include a detailed rationale for the application fee waiver and will be considered by the Admissions Committee on a case-by-case basis.
Once an application fee is paid by an applicant, it is non-refundable. Please be sure to contact email@example.com prior to paying your application fee if you wish to be considered for a waiver.
Applying Prior to Completing your Undergraduate Degree
An undergraduate degree is required to pursue our MS programs. However, if you submit your application prior to the conferral of your bachelor's degree or equivalent, we will still accept and evaluate your application. This will not delay the evaluation of your application. If an offer of admission is made, it will be contingent upon the conferral of your degree, either prior to enrollment or no later than the start of the Fall term in Shanghai.
Applying to Other NYU Stern Master Programs
Re-applicants must submit a complete, new application to the program of their choice.
Applicants may only have one active application within the 2019-20 admissions cycle (entering Spring, Summer and Fall terms for 2020). If you are not offered admission or withdraw your application during this 2019-20 cycle, you may request to re-apply in this 2019-20 cycle for the same program with a different start date or you may request to apply to a different program. Requests must be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org and your request must be approved before you begin your new application.
Change of Contact Information
It is the applicant’s responsibility to update the Admission Committee immediately with any new contact information. Failure to update your contact information may result in you missing key information, which could jeopardize your admission and/or place in the class.
New York University is not responsible for any technological issues (including email filters, etc.) that prevent applicants from receiving our communications.
Deferred Admission/Leave of Absence
The Admissions Committee does not grant admissions deferrals. If you are admitted and decide not to enroll, you may re-apply for a future term. Leaves of absence are not granted to students who cannot begin the program in the semester for which they were admitted or who cannot successfully complete one course in that first semester (obtaining a grade of D or better).
After admission, one non-refundable enrollment deposit is required to secure your place in the program. This enrollment deposit will not be refunded for any reason.
The Admissions Committee reserves the right to make an admissions decision at any point in the process even if the application is not fully complete or missing components or does not meet eligibility requirements. All admissions decisions are final.
Statement of Certification
Before submitting an application, all applicants are required to read and electronically sign the Statement of Certification. The Admissions Committee reserves the right to contact appropriate sources to ensure the accuracy of all the information you have provided. The Committee validates the accuracy of application information with the appropriate sources. You must promptly inform us if any information changes. The Admissions Committee may revoke your admission and/or scholarship(s) if we learn that you have misrepresented and/or omitted information during or after the admissions process, or that you have engaged in behavior showing a serious lack of judgment or integrity prior to or after admission. If your admission is revoked, you will not be eligible to re-apply to the MS programs.
Any items submitted in conjunction with your application become the sole property of the Admissions Committee and will not be returned, duplicated or transferred.
Submitting a Paper Application
Approval is required to submit a paper application. If you are unable to apply online, please send an email to email@example.com to explain the circumstances and request approval.
Submitting a Paper Recommendation
Approval is required for your recommender to submit a paper recommendation. If your recommender is unable to submit a recommendation online, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org to explain the circumstances and request approval.
Successful completion of orientation in its entirety is a pre-requisite for enrollment into the MS programs. Therefore, attendance for the entire schedule of orientation is mandatory.
It is not allowed to transfer credits.

The policies, requirements, course offerings, schedules, activities, tuition, fees and calendar of the School and its departments and programs set forth on this website are subject to change without notice at any time at the sole discretion of the administration. Such changes may be of any nature, including, but not limited to, the elimination of the School, programs, classes or activities; the relocation or modification of the content of any of the aforementioned; and the cancellation of scheduled classes or other academic activities. Payment of tuition or attendance at any classes shall constitute a student’s acceptance of the administration’s rights set forth in this paragraph.
