Cultivating Connections: Summer 2026 Orientation

This month, the new cohorts of the NYU Stern - NYU Shanghai MS Programs began their graduate journeys in Shanghai and New York. The Class of 2027 brings together cohorts from the MS in Quantitative Finance (MSQF), MS in Data Analytics and Business Computing (MSDABC), MS in Marketing and Retail Science (MSMRS), and MS in Organizational Management and Strategy (MSOMS).

On May 27, students gathered at the NYU Stern School of Business to officially kick off their graduate studies this summer in New York. Throughout the day, students took part in a packed schedule of activities centered around forming connections, meeting faculty, and setting the stage for the year to come.

A standout moment of this year's orientation was the NYU Mini Talks, a series of five short lectures from Stern professors that gave students a taste of the wide-ranging ideas they'll explore throughout the program.

The afternoon activities commenced with a campus-wide scavenger hunt, where teams had the chance to explore Stern's facilities, the broader NYU campus, and the surrounding neighborhood while enjoying friendly competition. The momentum carried right into discussions with NYU Campus Safety, and an overview of NYU resources. The day wrapped up with a happy hour at a nearby restaurant, where students enjoyed food and drinks and continued getting to know one another.

With a full summer of coursework, events, and new experiences ahead in New York, the Class of 2027 has already hit the ground running. Come September, students will carry that energy across the globe as they continue their studies at NYU Shanghai's Qiantan campus, taking the community and momentum they've built into the next chapter of their journey.

Meanwhile in China, the Class of 2027 was welcomed at NYU Shanghai, where Dean Yuxin Chen delivered opening remarks to set the tone for the term ahead for those studying in Shanghai for the summer. Summer faculty members joined the occasion, sitting down with students over lunch and taking time to connect with the incoming cohort. Students got acquainted through a People Bingo activity and explored their new campus through a Scavenger Hunt, with prizes going to the winning team. The day also included information sessions from the Center for Career Development (CCD) and the Library, along with an overview of key academic policies, graduation term options, and program requirements — giving students everything they needed to begin their graduate studies in Shanghai.
