September Company Visits Hosted by the CDC

September 25, 2019

At the beginning of the fall semester, the NYU Shanghai Career Development Center (CDC) organized a variety of activities for the MS in Quantitative Finance (MSQF) and MS in Data Analytics and Business Computing (MSDABC) students to help explore more career development possibilities. These activities are aimed at providing students with comprehensive and appropriate career development support so that they can truly access insider information of the industries, helping them to broaden their career horizons and establish a good foundation before joining the job market.

On September 3rd, CDC held an orientation for new students to review the career development services and introduce students to the platform Handshake. Edward Lim, NYU Shanghai librarian, also introduced the students to the available resources in the library for career development and encouraged students to use these resources to expand both their studies and career paths.

On September 10 and 16, CDC organized visits to ByteDance and Orient Securities Asset Management Co., Ltd. for the MSDABC and MSQF students. These activities helped students more deeply understand industry dynamics and experience different job responsibilities and corporate culture through on-the-spot investigation.

At ByteDance, one of the most popular Internet companies in China MSDABC students went on a guided tour. Staff from ByteDance introduced the history and current projects of BB to expose students to the unique corporate culture and the company's commercialization mode. At Orient Securities Asset Management Co., Ltd., MSQF students heard about business decision-making strategy of the company, and then participated in a recruitment information session specifically designed for our students.
