Alumni and current students joined together at the new NYU Shanghai New Bund campus to get to know each other, network, and mingle. The event started off with an alumni panel, in which five alumni shared insights from their time in the program and careers since graduation. The five alumni included students from the MSDABC Class of 2020, MSQF Class of 2021, MSMRS Class of 2023, and MSOMS Class of 2023, and are working at companies such as BMW, EY Advisory, Bytedance, SWHY Securities, and an AI startup. The alumni remarked on their favorite courses during the program, how they found their current jobs, and what their day to day is like as a working professional based in Shanghai. They emphasized the relevance of the program curriculum, not only for the technical skills they acquired but also critical business acumen such as communication, teamwork, and time management, and the importance of leveraging faculty expertise and school resources while in the program.
Following the panel, more alumni joined current students and a few faculty for a networking dinner. They traded tips and advice, exchanged contact details, and shared words of encouragement. The alumni were excited to check out the new campus and catch up with old classmates and faculty who they hadn’t seen in many months (or years!).
The event was a great opportunity to reflect on the growing community of NYU Stern - NYU Shanghai MS participants, and we look forward to hosting many more events in the future to bring together alumni and current students. See below for a few photos from the event:
